EVOO Oleoestepa Egregio 2018 Harvest


Egrigio is a blend of Hojiblanca, Arbequina, Picual and Manzanilla produced from organic olive groves in the most highly regulated DOP in all of Europe. A complex extra virgin olive oil that wins awards all over the world it has a  gold yellow color and green edges. Ripe fruit flavors are mixed with aromas and flavors of grass, green olive and artichoke. Pepper and spice are present but not strong.  Wonderful on fresh tomatoes, bean soups, cold soups and rice dishes.

Oleoestepa is the best large producer of olive oil on the planet. It’s an incredible organization comprised of 5000 member farmers and 16 olive mills established in 1986. Typically large cooperatives produce a “sea” of low-grade, windfall olive oil that finds its way into the commercial industry, but Oleoestepa’s mission is different, they strive for greatness and reward the growers for quality. The commitment from the farmers is inspiring and the quality controls implemented by the DOP (Designated Origin of Protection) “ESTEPA” are the most stringent in the world far exceeding  those of EVOO in general.  Egregio is delicious Certified Organic blend of Hojiblanca and Picual.
Located in Andalusia between the cities of Seville and Cordoba where the famous dry Mediterranean climate and poor soils are ideal for the cultivation of olive trees. But it’s the altitude and cool winds from the Sierra del Becerrero that keeps the trees in great health with a fresh and breezy terroir. A tremendous amount of coordination and communication is essential at Oleoestepa as the olives are milled within hours of harvest. This keeps freshness high and free acidity very low. The mills are state of the art and the oil is stored in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks.
