Paolo De Marchi’s estate is located on the western grade of the Chianti Classico plateau; the trees are privy to limestone soils and a cooler, windy exposure. He has 2,500 trees. 1,500 are 35 years old. The rest are 150+ years old and were regrown from their roots after a severe frost in 1985 decimated a high percentage of Chianti Classcio’s ancient trees.
