Frantoio Bonamini is located in the hills above Verona in the north of Italy. On the highest parts of these hills, on narrow terraces in almost inaccessible areas, they cultivate indigenous varieties of olive trees Grignano and Favarol. Sabrina and her brother Giancarlo own Giancarlo own 6500 trees and their family has been part of the olive oil culture here for several centuries.
Bonamini Veneto Valpolicella is 50% Grignano and 50% Favarol so it is truly representative of the regions traditions and teroir. The oil produced is delicate and rarely seen out of Italy. It is the color of straw with green edges. On the nose you’ll find , aromas of banana, lettuce, apple, grass. We love it for its light mouth feel and fresh taste with the flavors of banana fruit, celery and grass. The finish is round and creamy. This is one of the more spectacular oils in the world and a real crowd pleaser. When we sample EVOOs with clients Bonamini is a favorite.
The Flos Olei Guide is the bible of the EVOO biz. They literally evaluate 1000 estates for the quality of the oils and the production practices. Bonamini gets the top ratings in the 96-98 point range every year.
